Ruth Kleinpell is Assistant Dean for Clinical Scholarship and Professor at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
Professor Kleinpell is a highly experienced critical care nurse professional who has undertaken several leadership roles at an international level. With over 25 years of clinical nursing experience as a critical care nurse and acute care nurse practitioner, she is an internationally known and highly respected world leader in critical care nursing and medicine. She has contributed through her service in national and international organizations including as President of World Federation of Critical Care Nursing (WFCCN) for two consecutive terms from 2010 to 2015 and as President of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) in 2017He also holds honorary professorial appointments at University of Sydney and Monash University School of Public Health.
Professor Kleinpell’s contributions to intensive and critical care medicine have been recognised through several highly prestigious awards including most recently the 2019 Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
